Swine Flu
A few years ago, in response to the threat posed by the Avian Flu, O'Hare-Midway Limousine Service formed a Pandemic Response Team (PRT), whose purpose it would be to oversee the implementation of policies and procedures in the unlikely event of a global outbreak. As you are aware, the first real test of the PRT is here already - in the form of the Swine Flu.
So far, it has been our good fortune that this influenza outbreak hasn't lived up to its advance billing, but the PRT still had to fulfill its responsibilities by keeping informed and getting that information out to chauffeurs and office staff as it became available.
Currently, we are advising chauffeurs to limit contact with the public as much as possible, exercise proper hygiene, get enough rest, and wipe down vehicle interiors with sanitizing wipes. We are also asking them to stay home if they are sick, or experiencing any flu-like symptoms. Our office staff has limited direct client contact, but that doesn't eliminate the threat of infection by building occupants or even coworkers. Frequent cleaning of work stations, proper hygiene, and common sense are preached in the office as well. These simple steps will remain in place until the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces the threat has passed. In the event the situation worsens, we will add further measures to insure the health of our clients, chauffeurs, and staff.
