Dreams Come True for Children of Starlight
Whether it's a meeting with Bull's star Michael Jordan or a trip to The Magic Kingdom, hundreds of chronically and terminally ill children have had their dreams come true with help from the Starlight Foundation.
Created in 1983 by Dynasty star Emma Samms, the Starlight Foundation is an international, non-profit organization funded by corporate and individual donations. The Chicago chapter opened just four years ago and has brightened the spirits of more than 500 children, ages 4 to 18, with presents of TVs, VCRs, Nintendo games and computers.
And when it comes to wishes involving travel, O'Hare-Midway Limousine Service has helped dreams become reality.
"O'Hare-Midway Limousine has always stepped up to help out," said Sue Ferrara of the Chicago Chapter. "Ever since this chapter opened, they've provided more than $500.00 a month in travel services. Many wishes involving travel could not come true without transportation for these children. They've been great to work with. One child went on a shopping spree and left her camera on the seat of a limousine. The chauffeur actually drove back on his own time to return it."
Starlight arranges special trips including shopping sprees at clothing or toy stores, exciting journeys to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, or meetings with celebrities such as Billy Joel, Paula Adbul and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
